Grandma
So what is Grandma's response to this fall? Is she confident that she will spring up again like the spry young chicken she certainly is, or ....what?

As far as I know, Grandma does not realize what her progonosis is at this time: 1-2 weeks in the hospital and then 4 months in a nursing home as her knee regains strength to walk. Of course, this involves more decision-making. Where should she be in a nursing home? How would/could she be transported? The doctor is saying that ground transport is not really an option. Would insurance cover air transport? Father has not yet contacted a nursing home to see what his options are. There is/was a room coming available at Sunnyside, a wonderful facility here in Sarasota (where lots of Mennos work), but that decision needed to be made by today and Grandpa didn't feel that it was an option so I cancelled our priority to have it.
Sooner or later Grandpa--or someone--will be faced with telling her what the recovery process involves. Maybe it would be better for the social worker, a nurse, or someone else to bring this to her awareness...
Please pray for wisdom, comfort, and guidance for Grandpa especially. His processing time is a bit slower than usual and he is accustomed to having Grandma function as the assertive one. My heart really goes out to him. It would be bad enough if they were at home where things were familiar and friends could gather 'round. What a blessing that Norma June and her kind hospitality has been! It's a tough time...
